my name is kevin and i am jon's partner.
jon gave me his password a few weeks ago and asked me to post to the board if something happened to him.
as some of you know jon had been undergoing cancer treatment since the end of july.

I'm so sorry.
Jon certainly had a great personality, it was obvious by his posts even if we didn't know him in person. I think you're doing the right thing by honoring his wishes. He wanted you to take care of things because he trusts you, not anyone else. When I die, I hope my true love is there with me too, holding my hand.
He will be missed, thank you for letting us know.

Lay down the law, tell her that you're having the party and that she has to put up with it because you're her husband and you have a right to do what you believe is best for your kids too.
I was secretly happy for my kids when my non-jw husband insisted on certain things like holidays (not that we did much anyhow since he was sort of lax about it).It was convenient for me because when he took the initiative I could blame it all on him while the kids had their fun too.
She might go easy, you never know.

i just received a phone call from the mom of one of my daughter's friend's.. 7th grade little girl, just delightful.. we saw her dad tuesday night at 'back to school night.'.
he killed himself yesterday.. lisa.
edited to add, i just talked to the girl's mom again and she told me they went to the doctor together yesterday, i guess he's been having some chronic health problems for the last ten years.. the doctor pooh-poohed his concerns.
Oh, I feel terrible for you and the family. A very close cousin killed himself when we were both 21 and it was the most painful (besides my brother's death) thing to have to deal with. If only I could have seen it coming and done something. That was what we all were thinking every day since.
That poor little girl of his. The suffering she's going through is so hard to think about. How thoughtful and selfless of you to volunteer to clean any mess up from it. Especially when you're pregnant like that. I wouldn't even have thought of it, you're a real friend, they're lucky to have you available like that.

My god, the one thing that stands out in my mind is how wonderful the women of this forum really are. There are strong, courageous women with brilliant minds, beautiful faces and loving hearts and to think of any one of you having to have endured abuse like that breaks my heart.
There is simply no excuse for the Watchtower treating women the way they do. They think they've come so far, but they're still lacking soooo much when it comes to showing real love and compassion.
You women are so strong and so helpful by sharing your stories. I applaud you.

well, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.
i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.
i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.
Oh man, that sounds like something my mother would write.
You are not doing wicked things deserving of destruction and you are not the one turning your back on your family. Don't let her guilt trip get you down. That's just her way of trying to "scare" you back to the troof.
You should ask her how she'd feel if her grandchild died because of your refusing them a blood transfusion. Then, she'd probably be proud of their taking a stand for what they believe in, right?

Hmmm, the few times I've smoked pot I was thankfully not driving anywhere, but maybe I had stronger stuff than you've had Naeblis. I certainly wouldn't want to have to take care of a baby or drive with the kids somewhere under that influence. It's not just doing it in front of kids that's bad, it's not being fully aware of things because your minds in a self made fog and not being prepared to handle things clearheaded that would worry me. I'm just trying to show how it used to stress me out and why it isn't fair to the other person to be so irresponsible. Why should the spouse have to be the "designated parent". If one is smoking pot and "chillin" out often, that makes the other one have to shoulder more and will cause resentment.
There is a time and place for relaxing, even with pot, but when it causes friction in the home, it's time to reevaluate and consider what's more important.
I think what scared me at the time was that I really felt I was less important than the drug. Maybe that's how Jurs is feeling? I won't get into details, but it almost caused our breakup. He says he's thankful that he had the heart scare. He's a better person today and has accomplished so much more than he ever could have in the past. I've had too many exciting opportunities come up to ever stay with him if he hadn't changed. I'm so glad he's living life instead of just trying to avoid it.

For those that don't think it is that bad, would you consider leaving your newborn baby with a babysitter that you knew might smoke pot right after you leave for work or an appointment? Would you want your child's bus driver to have a joint before taking the kids to school? When you can't trust your own husband to be on top of things for your kids and give you time to work or go to the store without feeling wary, that creates tension and unneccessary worry for the other parent, even if he's a real nice guy.
It's great if it just makes you unambitious and lazy and relaxed, great, good for you. But, when it makes you a paranoid, flippant asshole that others have to live with you can't tell me that it's harmless to a family.
My friend's husband was speeding while they were driving home one night and he had a bag of weed in the car. The cops arrested him in front of his 4 year old daughter. She was very distressed about it. Nice. Too bad he had to be so careless about his "simple little harmless habit".
